As Canada's largest and oldest bakery, we have been feeding Canadians delicious and nutritious food for more than 110 years.

While not everyone is familiar with the Bimbo Canada name, you have likely enjoyed at least one of our many brands at breakfast, lunch or dinner. We produce and distribute more than 1,000 products across 18 brands Canadians know and trust, like: Dempster's®, Villaggio®, POM®, Bon Matin®, Ben's®, Stonemill®, Takis®, Sanissimo, Vachon® and more.

Our baked goods and snacks are high-quality, affordable, yet innovative and exciting. We're committed to providing nutritious products for the whole family. We are inspired by global flavours and trends and are constantly reinventing how we bring them to Canadians with products made from simple ingredients.

In May 2014, the company was purchased by Grupo Bimbo, the world's largest baking company with operations in 33 countries. In 2015, the company purchased Vachon Bakery and in 2016, acquired Stonemill Bakehouse.

Our Name

In 2018, Canada Bread changed its name to Bimbo Canada to align to that of our parent company, Grupo Bimbo, one of the world's oldest and largest baking companies, who recently celebrated their 75th anniversary. The decision to change our name to Bimbo Canada was a natural progression for our company.

The term Bimbo [pronounced Beem-bo] was selected by our founders as a play on the popular game Bingo and animated children's movie Bambi. It does not mean anything in Spanish. In colloquial Italian, "bimbo" is short for baby boy (bambino). In Hungarian, it means cocoon. In China, the phoneme used for bread sounds a lot like Bimbo. So clearly, being part of a worldwide company was baked into our identity from the very beginning.

Diversity, Equity and Belonging

We Value the Person and follow our Golden Rule of treating everyone with Respect, Fairness, Trust and Care.

We are dedicated to building an environment and workplace that is diverse and promotes equity and belonging. Together, we are creating a business where people from different origins, geographies and experiences can develop and contribute to the transformation of our company, the baking industry and the communities that we live and work in.
